Get the most from satellite monitoring: good boundaries, the right refresh and tuned detections.

Drawing a good boundary

Keep your site tight around what you actually care about. A boundary that hugs a facility produces sharper detections than one that includes half the surrounding town. For large areas like districts, consider several smaller sites instead of one giant one; alerts become far more meaningful.

Choosing imagery refresh

Refresh is how often new imagery is processed for a site. Faster refresh suits fast moving situations such as active construction or port activity. Slower refresh suits gradual change such as land use or environmental shift, and costs less. You can change a site's refresh at any time as a situation develops.

Tuning what counts as a change

  1. Pick detection types deliberately. Only enable what matters for this site. A border post does not need agricultural change detection.
  2. Set a confidence threshold. Start at the default. Raise it if you see noise; lower it if you fear missing things. The right threshold depends on how costly a miss is for you.
  3. Use the feedback buttons. Marking a detection as useful or not useful tunes the models for your site over time.

Reading the site timeline

Every site has a timeline of imagery and detections. Drag the comparison slider between any two dates to see exactly what changed. The timeline is also where you confirm a detection before it goes into a case or report.

A note on history

When you create a site, GEOSY can backfill historical imagery where available, so you start with context rather than a blank page. Enable this in the site settings.
